Water handling

Optimise your water handling on every level

Creating and maintaining a complete drive solution will give your pumps and water handling systems the best total performance – and you peace of mind. Speed control can bring considerable energy savings in water handling operations due to the great variations in demand. Municipalities around the world use CG products in sewage treatment plants, water purification plants and pumping stations. The result is improved reliability, reduced energy consumption and less mechanical wear.

Efficient electric motor operations

Emotron AC drives and softstarters are developed for applications such as pumps, blowers, mixers, scrapers and centrifuges. Their robust construction means they can be located in close proximity to equipment. A built-in load monitor protects the process from damage and downtime, for example if a pump runs dry, a pipe is blocked, a mixer blade breaks or a scraper is jammed. Linear stops prevent water hammer in your pump systems and extend the lifetime of your equipment.

Constant flow despite varying demand

By efficiently controlling electric motors with Emotron AC drives, it’s easy to keep a constant flow despite large variations. Operation is continuously adapted to demand, saving energy as well as upkeep. Customers also get more consistent water pressure in their pipes. A large part of energy consumption in treatment plants goes to oxygenating. Emotron AC drives ensure that blowers supply the right quantity of air in at the right time, maintaining the correct oxygen level with minimum energy.

Dewatering with energy-efficient centrifuges

CG also offers energy-efficient operation of decanter centrifuges used for dewatering sludge. The process uses two electric motors, one that powers the drum and one that brakes the screw conveyor. Energy generated from braking is normally converted into heat and dissipated via brake resistors. With a CG solution, however, the energy is redirected directly to the driving motor. This reduces the main’s energy requirement and saves the cost of brake resistors.
